Collaborative note taking with Etherpad

In some cases, users need to take notes collaboratively in near real-time to write, for example, the minutes of a Meeting or to allow users to follow a meeting remotely without having to invest in a complex replay system.

To facilitate online/offline participation, Decidim can be integrated with Etherpad (a free collaborative pad tool) which allows the creation and display of collaborative pads directly on Meeting.
How is Etherpad integrated into meetings?
To better understand this feature, we must remember that a Dating has three states:
  • Before the meeting, you let people know that the meeting will take place, where, when and what will be discussed.
  • During the meeting, notes can be taken collaboratively (that's where Etherpad comes in).
  • After the meeting, you upload notes, minutes, metadata and/or photos to keep a record of what was discussed.
The creation of pads can be enabled by administrators in each component of Dating. When enabled, the public page of a meeting displays the pad directly on the page in an iframe. This pad is automatically created when the Meeting is created, so no action is required by administrators.

Meeting ️Le pad is only accessible to the edition for 24 hours before and 72 hours after ⚠ . After the meeting, it is only accessible for reading.

⚠️L 'edition of the pad is reserved for registered users on the platform. This means that note-taking is collaborative and is not reserved for administrators. A history feature is available on Etherpad to recover content deleted after a false manipulation.

⚠️La collaborative note-taking is a common practice in many communities but requires learning.
