Geolocate proposals and meetings

Introduction to geocoding

It is possible to geolocate a proposal or a meeting based on an address provided by the user or the administrator.

To do so, you must check the box that activates this functionality in the settings of your Meeting module or your proposals module.

For the proposals module, in the "Global parameters" section

By enabling geocoding, an address field will appear in the third stage of the submission where the user can enter an address. The proposal is positioned on the map on the basis of this address.

No configuration is required for the Dating module. If geocoding is activated on your platform, the Dating you enter will be automatically geocoded and will appear on the map.

Geocoding FAQs

Is the geocoding done on the basis of the user's IP?
No, the proposals and Dating are geocoded on the basis of the address provided by the user.

Can there be geocoding errors if the address is too generic?
Yes, if the user enters 1 rue Victor Hugo without specifying the city, the geocoding is likely to be erroneous because the system will take the first value that comes up.

Is geocoding limited to my geographical perimeter?
No, by default geocoding is done without limitation, so users should be encouraged to be precise in the address they provide. We can restrict this perimeter to one country on request.

Do all Dating and proposals appear on the map?
No, only those displayed below the map are present on the map.
