👂 The translation module

In order to parameterize the translations of your platform within the framework of semantic modifications (specific to your needs), we can add a translation module to your administrator space. This module allows you to modify the platform's translation keys, which by default are managed on the Crowdin service.

Create a translation set

To use it, go to the "Translation Settings" tab in the left menu. The window for managing translation sets opens. In this window you can set up translation sets, i.e. translation folders whose scope of application you can choose. To edit a translation set, click the "Configure" icon, and to delete it, click the "Delete" icon. Click on the name of your translation set to access the translation settings. To update the platform if your new translations do not appear, click on "Purge Cache".

Click on " New Translation Set" to create a new translation set. In this new window, give a Name to this translation set. You can also set constraints so that your translation set is only applied to a specific space on the platform. This allows you to adapt the semantics of your platform to the specific issues of your different processes. In the screenshot below, the translations you will set up will only apply to the functionality Dating of the Process "Smart Isula Themes". You can add constraints to refine the application of your translation sets.

Click on "Create"to create a new translation set.

Creating translations

In this window you can manage all the translations performed within the selected translation set. To modify a translation already done, click on the "Configure" icon, and to delete it, click on the "Delete" icon.

To create a new translation, you have two options:

  • Add several: We recommend using this button to set up your translations.
  • New translation: Its use assumes that you are aware of the translation key of the term to be modified, so we advise you not to use this method. However, if you know the translation key, you just have to enter it and indicate in the "Modified Term" field the translated term as you want it to appear on the platform.

To create new translations, click on "Add multiple". A new window will open. Enter the term you wish to modify in the search bar. A list of hits for the search term will appear. The main difficulty of this module lies in the complexity of the translation keys (ex: decidim.metrics.assemblies.object). These are the only indications you have to understand where the term you want to modify is located on the platform.

Select the terms you wish to change by clicking on the desired lines.

Click on "Add". The selected translation keys are now displayed on the translation management page of your translation set.

To modify a translation, click on the " " icon.Configure" on the right side of the screen. In the "" fieldModified TermEnter the translation you want to appear on the platform at the location designated by the translation key, then click on "".Save".

In the screenshot below, the word assemblies has been changed to Assemblea at the location decidim.admin.menu.assemblies, which corresponds to the term assembly in the menu of the platform's administrator area.

Attention ! Si vous modifiez une clé de traduction comprenant un %{count}, prenez garde à compléter la deuxième clé (.other ou .one). En effet, ces clés fonctionnent toujours ensemble.

Look out! Only keys containing html tags (, <ul>etc.) accept html. Inserting html in a key that does not contain html tags beforehand will not be interpreted in the layout.</ul>
